What are free credits?
Free credits are a cash-equivalent amount that can be used to spend on Prolific. They can only be gifted to researchers by Prolific or a selected Prolific ambassador.
We will always clearly state the monetary value of the free credits, for example: “win $10 of free credits to spend on Prolific”.
How can I get free credits?
Prolific may award free credits for various reasons, such as:
Promotional campaigns
Competitions or giveaways
Referral schemes
If you’re eligible, you’ll be informed directly as part of the campaign or offer.
Do free credits expire?
Free credits issued before 8th July 2024 do not have had an expiry date.
Free credits issued after 8th July 2024 will always include an expiry date.
If your free credits expire, the expiry date will be clearly shown in:
The campaign’s terms and conditions
The confirmation email you receive when the credits are added to your account
Free credits terms and conditions
On the date the free credits expire, these will be removed from the recipient's account.
Free credits are not redeemable for cash, have no cash value, are non-refundable and serve only to be spent on Prolific's platform before their expiry date.
Free credits will be applied to the Prolific workspace you visited last.
Free credits cannot be transferred to other Prolific users or Prolific accounts.
We reserve the right to cancel any free credits at any time.
The free credits are void in the event of fraud, misuse, or violation of any terms of the main researcher terms and conditions, these Terms, or the terms of the agreement, promotion, or program pursuant to which you received the free credits. Any free credits are void if sold for cash or other consideration. Any free credits applied to your researcher account that are determined by Prolific to have been created solely for the purpose of obtaining free credits are void. In addition to any other legal relief available to us, you will reimburse us for the amount of any free credits you use in violation of these Terms.
We may modify these Terms at any time by posting a revised version on the Prolific website or by sending you an email using the email address provided in your application for free credits. The modified Terms will become effective upon posting or, if we notify you by email, as stated in the email message.
