If you want your study to include a specific mix of participants across one or more demographics, you can use Quota sample.
For example, you might want to:
Recruit 50% male and 50% female participants.
Recruit 30% of participants from Spain and 70% from France.
Balance your sample across age groups, education levels, or other supported demographics.
Quota sampling helps ensure your study reaches the demographic distribution you need.
Set up a quota sample
In the Recruit participants section of your study form, go to Study distribution and audience selection.
Select Quota sample.
By default, selecting Quota sample automatically adds the Sex prescreener and evenly balances participants between male and female responses.
If you don't want to balance your sample by sex, you can either:
Turn off the default quota, or
Remove the Sex prescreener entirely.
Note: When using Quota sample, participants are automatically limited to one submission per person. The option to allow multiple submissions is not available.
Add more demographic quotas
You can add additional supported prescreeners to balance your sample across multiple demographics.
By default, participants are distributed evenly across all selected prescreener responses.
To add pre screeners, click + Add filters in the Study distribution and audience selection. There you can search for your desired screeners.
Create a custom distribution
If you need a different demographic split you can edit this:
Scroll just below to where this filter will now show.
Click the Set quotas button to the right of your filter to open up further details.
Click Edit Quotas at the bottom of this section
Update the percentage for each response.
Select Apply quotas to save your changes.
Your participant counts will automatically update to reflect the new distribution.
Limitations
Quota sampling is currently available only for selected prescreeners and supports a maximum of 75 strata.
What happens if a submission is rejected or returned?
If a participant's submission is rejected or returned, their quota space automatically becomes available again.
The next participant who matches the same demographic criteria can fill that place, helping maintain your intended sample distribution.
Can I change quotas after publishing my study?
No. Once your study has been published, the quota distribution is locked and cannot be edited.
If you need different quotas, you'll need to create a new study with the required distribution.
