Once you publish a study on Prolific, eligible participants can find out about it in several ways:
1. Participants are matched to your study
Participants create an account on Prolific and provide demographic information about themselves. We use this information to determine which studies they’re eligible to take part in.
Studies will appear on the participant’s study dashboard when they become available, where participants can choose to take part.
Studies will also appear in the participant’s Prolific Assistant browser extension for those who have this installed.
2. We notify a random selection of eligible participants
When you publish your study, we send an email invitation to a random subset of the participants who are eligible for it.
This helps give eligible participants a fair opportunity to take part in your study.
While the email notification is random, all eligible participants will be able to see your study on their dashboard when logged in.
3. We send reminders if your study is still open
If your study hasn’t reached its maximum number of submissions, we’ll continue sending email invitations to eligible participants every 48 hours.
This means that additional eligible participants have opportunities to discover and take part in your study until your submission limit is reached.
