How do I report data quality concerns to you?

How to report data quality concerns or suspicious participants to Prolific, and what happens after you report.

Data quality concerns can range from a single low-quality submission to a suspected bad actor across your study. Here's how to handle each.

Start here: reject the submission

If your concern is with a specific submission, reject it. That already counts against the participant on our end, you don't need to report them separately on top of it.

NOCODE, timed out, and returned submissions aren't valid grounds for a rejection or a report on their own.

Report concerns to Support

Use the chatbot icon in the bottom right of your screen if you want to discuss a rejection, flag a pattern across submissions, or need something actioned on your study that rejecting alone won't cover.

We'll look into anything you report and take appropriate action.

Report suspicious or fraudulent participants through our form

For specific bad-actor behavior, suspected bots, multiple submissions from the same IP address, or participants misrepresenting themselves, use this form instead. It routes straight to our data quality team.

You'll need:

  • The issue you've experienced

  • Participant ID(s)

  • Your study ID (optional)

  • Any supporting evidence (optional)

How does Prolific currently review accounts?

We use a variety of tools to help make sure you get excellent data quality on Prolific. We use a mix of tools to catch quality issues before they reach you, participant verification, IP and ISP checks, and ongoing account monitoring. Low-quality submissions still get through sometimes, which is exactly why reporting them helps, it's how we catch what our own checks missed.

See our blog post on why participants get banned for more on how this works.
