A brief description of a widely used scale in empirical research
Likert scales, or frequency scales, consist of an ordinal scale with typically five or seven fixed choice responses. They are intended to measure agreement or disagreement with certain statements, although there is often a neutral point to indicate neither agreement nor disagreement. This scale is used when you want more detailed insights into your participants’ attitudes than yes/no questions would provide.Â
