Researchers often ask when the best time to launch their study is, or if there’s temporal usage patterns in the pool. The graph below shows the average number of submissions begun per hour over the course of a single day, averaged over 7 days to account for daily fluctuations.
We hope the graph is self-explanatory, but there are two important things to note:
- This graph shows submissions begun per hour, which is dependent on there being open studies available for participants to take part in. Given that most studies fill quickly, and most are launched during office hours, it's possible that more users would complete studies at 23:00 (for example), if only there were studies still available.
- Prolific is typically quieter on the weekends, though again this may be due to lack of studies as opposed to lack of desire to complete them.
